The Manor Veterinary Clinic was established in the village of Hinchley Wood, England in 1994 with just one veterinarian. Since those early days, the practice has evolved significantly and currently boasts three full time veterinarians, five nurses, a kennel attendant and two receptionists. Staff at the practice pride themselves in the added value they offer to both patients and clients, and they are forever striving to exceed their clients’ expectations. The practice offers its patients a facility of veterinary excellence and unsurpassable patient care.

Gary Baitz BVSc MRCVS MASFM
Practice Owner and Veterinarian
Gary is the owner and founder of the Manor Veterinary Clinic. He grew up in South Africa and practiced veterinary medicine all over the world before starting the clinic back in 1993. In addition to his veterinary qualifications, he gained a Masters in Strategic Financial Management at the University of Kingston Business School in 2002. He shares a home with his wife, Shirley and two children, Ryan and Zarah, along with 1 dog, 3 cats and numerous birds and fish. Gary enjoys cycling, travelling and horseracing and spends a great deal of his time outside the clinic working with horses. He remains passionate about treating patients and their owners in the manner he would like to be treated himself, and ensures that his entire staff feels the same.
Amy Bergs DVM MRCVS
Veterinarian
Amy has come a long way to join Manor Vets, having spent her first 28 years in the States. She qualified from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in New York in 2006 and then worked in a small animal practice in Chicago for 2 years. It was in Chicago that she met her future husband, Robert, and they both agreed that his home town of London was the place to be. She joined the practice in December of 2008 and brings with her a great love of cats and challenging internal medicine cases. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, hiking, singing and playing whatever musical instrument happens to be available.
Catherine Louise Lohne DVM MRCVS
Veterinarian
Louise grew up in Norway but moved to Hungary to attend the St. Istvan Faculty of Veterinary Science in Budapest, where she qualified in 2006. She worked for 2 years in a mixed animal practice in Derbyshire before joining Manor Vets in November of 2008. One of her favourite parts of the job is soft tissue surgery, and when she’s not at work she enjoys horse riding, walking her black lab named Annie, lying in with her two cats Tulip and Sydney and travelling, with a particular love for Tanzania.
Nikki Cumberbeach
BA (Hons) RVN A1 SQP
Nurse
Nikki trained with us and qualified in 2004 after winning the BVNA Student Veterinary Nurse of the Year award, and has thankfully stayed with us ever since. She grew up in Walton on Thames, Surrey and currently shares a house with her boyfriend Ian, Boris the cat and Teshie and Lilly the rabbits. She has become a local expert in the husbandry and medical care of rabbits and frequently offers clinics to both clients and staff members to make sure our rabbit patients are cared for with the respect they deserve. She left a career in the film and TV industry to join the nursing profession and now is in charge of our nurse training programme. When she’s not working too hard at the clinic, she’s probably riding her beloved horse Kimba.
Stephanie Cafferata RVN
Nurse
Stephanie has been with Manor Vets almost from the start, joining the practice in February of 1997. She was born in Nairobi but has lived in Surrey for the past 32 years. She qualified from BCA in 1972 and it is there that she met her husband, Adrian. Together they have three children, James, Emma and Thomas, along with a German shepherd named Zulu, two kittens named Jose and Diego and multiple chickens and ducks. When she’s not rocking out to Led Zeppelin, you might find her baking very tasty cakes or gardening. As a nurse, she is most passionate about preventative care, dog handling, and providing the best possible service for all of our clients, especially those with German shepherds.
Shreen El-
Nurse
Shreen is one of our student nurses and has been with the practice since March of
2008. She’s from London and is particularly fond of cats, especially her own middle-
Sophie O’Donoghue
Nurse
Sophie joined Manor Vets in December of 2007 as a student veterinary nurse, and if all goes well she will qualify in the summer of 2010. She is originally from New Malden and has always loved working with animals. Sophie has two pets, Molly the 8 year old wheaten terrier/border collie cross and a 16 year old very furry cat named Milo. She spends most of her spare time walking other people’s dogs and checking in on cats whilst their owners are away.

Charlotte Beard
Nurse
Charlotte is the most recent addition to our practice, joining in May 2009. She’s a second year student nurse planning to qualify by the end of this year with two years of experience working in an orthopaedic referral clinic. Charlotte currently lives in Chessington with her three charming but troublesome cats, Max, Mimi and Chocho. In addition to enjoying cultured activities such as cinemas and the theatre, she also loves big cuddly dogs and assisting with surgery of any kind.
Debbie Riding
Kennel Attendant
Sarah is originally from Kingston and joined the practice in 1994 before qualifying from Farnborough Technology College. Unfortunately she doesn’t make it in to the practice much these days after having 2 kids and moving to Bedfordshire, but she does still make sure that all of our clients’ pet insurance claims are handled in a fast and accurate manner. She has two cats named Scratchy and Puddy, a Golden Retriever named Charlie, and a husband named Anthony. She enjoys spending time with her whole family, including her two daughters Rebecca and Isabel, and her favourite parts of the job include playing with puppies and working with clients to ensure proper nutrition and insurance coverage for their pets.
Sarah Todd, VN
Nurse
Debbie has been with Manor Vets since 2005 and the place just wouldn’t be the same without her! She is responsible for much of what goes on behind the scenes, from walking our canine patients several times a day to making sure our surgery is sparkling clean to interior decorating as we expand next door. She grew up in Wimbledon and now shares a house with her two sons, Christian and Oliver, and her two dogs, Stilton the English Setter and Tilly the tart. If she’s not at work, she’s probably on the beach someplace warm.
Sally Regan
Receptionist
If you’ve visited us before you’ve probably been greeted by Sally, who has been one of the friendliest faces at Manor Vets since August of 2002. She lives in New Malden with her husband John and two children, Jack and Hannah. And as if that isn’t enough, she also shares her house with four cats, a rabbit and a guinea pig, with a pond full of fish out back. She loves seeing all of our patients walk through the door but is particularly fond of big fluffy cats. Congratulations to Sally for being nominated for the 2009 Petplan Veterinary Receptionist of the Year Award!
